Alaina R. Alexander was born in St. Louis Park, MN, and raised in Topeka, KS. At age six, she began dual love affair with singing and writing stories. During her college years, music became her primary focus and she put writing stories on the backburner.

Alaina attended both Kansas State University and the College of Santa Fe. She received her BA in Contemporary Music with a minor in Spanish from the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico.  

As the host of "UNOBSTRUCTED", Alaina has interviewed several publishers and writers including: W.S. Gainer, Michael Hathaway, Gerald Locklin, Ishmael Reed, Sonia Sanchez, the late Alexander D. Taylor, Pam Ward and Al Young.

She has been featured in Falling Star Magazine, Poetry Diversity, Poetix.net and World Word Wide Radio Network. Alaina has performed featured readings at Mama's Hot Tamales,The Venice Grind, The 2007 Leimert Park Book Festival  and Beyond Baroque.
